Advantages: The specific song used in this EDPuzzle has a chorus that is easy to remember and gives a great visual while doing so. Incorporating music into lessons allows students to become engaged and is a catchy way to help remember the steps in the water cycle. Using EDPuzzle to have the students listen to the water cycle song also allows for comprehension questions to be asked while students are listening. This provides students an opportunity to answer questions in a different format. Instead of answering a question from just looking at text, EDPuzzle provides audio, and visual, as well as text prior to answering a question, which reaches a variety of learning styles. The questions that are embedded within allow students to think critically and be fully prepared for an in-depth class conversation. Using EDpuzzle also ensures that all students are held accountable for the information being presented. Instead of stopping a video at random intervals to ask a few questions and have responses from one or two students, all students are engaged in answering the embedded questions.
Disadvantages: While the Google Forms quiz is easy to navigate the one thing that may cause additional extraneous cognitive load is the location of the illustration, which is needed to answer the questions. The illustration is located at the top of the quiz and requires students to return to the top throughout the quiz in order to answer the questions.
